MBM Auto Renew Issues Guidance on Paint Protection Before Winter

FENTON, MI – October 14, 2026 – PRESSADVANTAGE –

MBM Auto Renew issued guidance this October on preparing vehicle paint and clear coat ahead of winter road salt and seasonal debris. The guidance, drawn from the shop’s published ceramic coating page, outlines the sequence technicians use when a vehicle is brought in for protection work before sustained salt application begins. The company did not add a service. It put the existing preparation order on the record for the season.

According to the ceramic coating page, vehicles in the region face Michigan winters, road salt, sun exposure, and everyday driving. The page describes ceramic coating as a clear protective layer that bonds to paint and creates a surface that helps repel water, dirt, and grime. It states that, when applied professionally, ceramic coatings can last several years, with longevity dependent on maintenance and environmental exposure. The same page says the coating is more resistant to ultraviolet rays, oxidation, chemical stains, and environmental contaminants than traditional wax, which it describes as lasting a few weeks or a couple of months.

The homepage FAQ distinguishes paint protection film as the physical impact layer against rock chips, gravel, bug splatter, road debris, salt damage, and minor scratches, and ceramic coating as the chemical and hydrophobic layer. Combined use of film on high-impact areas and coating over the rest of the vehicle is described on the site as a common sequence.

“Salt and road debris are already named on the ceramic page as conditions the coating is meant to help with,” said Michael Beck, owner of MBM Auto Renew. “The guidance is the sequence the technicians already use: inspect the paint, correct only what the clear coat can take, then apply the protection layer. That is what goes on the record before salt trucks start regular runs.”

The published preparation steps are a thorough inspection before application, a detailed wash and decontamination to create a clean surface for bonding, controlled application for even coverage and curing, and clear communication about maintenance. The page states that not every vehicle requires the same level of preparation and that technicians determine whether paint correction is needed first.

Paint correction is described as a clear-coat refining process that can address surface-level swirl marks, fine scratches, oxidation, water spots, light etching, and dullness. Deeper scratches that go through the clear coat may not be fully removable. Typical paint correction time listed on the site is two to eight hours.

Paint protection film is treated as a separate step for high-impact areas. The company website describes custom film for popular models including Mustangs, Broncos, and Corvettes, with full custom work typically taking two to five days. Films used by the shop are described as self-healing products with manufacturer warranties of up to 10 years.

That product warranty is distinct from the shop quality assurance guarantee, whose specific terms depend on the service provided and are not published as a single length. A June 18, 2026 shop post attributed a 10-year film warranty to 3M in connection with preferred-installer status. That status is not part of the October guidance.

The ceramic coating page notes that longevity depends on maintenance and environmental exposure and that harsh chemicals and abrasive brushes can affect the coating. No independent laboratory study of coating performance in salt conditions is cited on the company website. The salt and winter language used in the guidance is the language already published on that page.

“Film handles the impact and coating handles the chemical side,” Beck said. “The inspection decides what the paint can still take. The October note records the order so owners know what the shop does before salt season.”

MBM Auto Renew was founded by Michael Beck, whose About page lists more than 30 years in dealership reconditioning and identifies him as founder and a paintless dent repair veteran. The Fenton company describes itself as a hands-on shop rather than a volume installer, working on new vehicles and on worn paint and damaged panels. Listed services include ceramic coating, paint correction, window tinting, paintless dent repair, and custom paint protection film. The October guidance records how ceramic coating and paint protection film are described on the company website in relation to winter salt and seasonal road conditions.
