Wellington, FL, September 11, 2026 – Every winter, Palm Beach County seniors switch Medicare plans in the fall and find out in January that the physician they have seen for years is no longer covered. Wellington Internal Medicine Group is asking patients to check their plan before the December 7th deadline, and is accepting new patients at all five of the practice’s locations for those who need a new primary care physician.
Medicare Annual Enrollment runs October 15 through December 7. Coverage chosen during that window takes effect January 1st. Patients who change plans without confirming their physician’s network status often discover the gap only after their first appointment of the new year.
Wellington accepts seven major carriers: Medicare Advantage plans from Humana, Devoted Health, Preferred Care, Solis Health, and Prominence Health. The practice recommends completing these three checks to avoid eligibility problems before the December 7th deadline: confirm the physician is in network for the specific plan, not just the carrier; confirm the location, because networks can differ between offices; and confirm which in-office services are covered.

Patients who do need to change physicians can be seen at any of the practice’s five Palm Beach County clinics: Wellington, West Boynton Beach, East Boynton Beach, Lake Worth and Loxahatchee. The newest of these, in West Boynton Beach, sees patients on Wednesdays. The Wellington and Lake Worth offices are open Monday through Friday.
