Timpson’s Water Now Meets Federal Safety Limits Citywide

Post-treatment sampling confirms the small East Texas city is back in compliance with federal disinfection byproduct standards, roughly one year after a TCEQ violation.

TIMPSON, TX / ACCESS Newswire / August 6, 2026 / The City of Timpson has confirmed that all sampling locations across its water system now test below the total trihalomethane (TTHM) regulatory limits, verifying the success of a transformative water quality improvement program approved unanimously by the Timpson City Council and Mayor. Water quality results were independently confirmed by Omni Water Consultants of Oklahoma. The initiative leveraged cutting-edge BiCARBUS water treatment technology, responsible financing, and academic collaboration to resolve long-standing water safety challenges for the city’s 1,578 residents.

Prompted by a Q1 2025 Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) violation citing elevated levels of disinfection byproducts, the program targeted excessive concentrations of TTHMs in the city’s water system. TTHMs in Timpson had historically increased to well above 100 parts per billion (ppb) after treatment, exceeding the federal legal limit of 80 ppb and posing potential risks including increased cancer risk and developmental concerns.

Results were independently validated by Omni Water Consultants of Oklahoma, providing an additional layer of third-party assurance for residents and regulators alike.

For residents, the practical outcome is water that meets federal standards at the tap. For the city, it closes out the issue that prompted the 2025 TCEQ violation and shifts the work from correction to maintenance. Sampling will continue on a routine schedule, with results reported through the city’s annual water quality report and monitoring practices developed under the University of Houston program.
